Building a 280mm Quadcopter out of spare parts (FC, RX, PDB)

Part I – The Frame

Part II – Motors and ESCs

After the frame assemby and ESC calibration was complete, it was time to work with the heart of the quadcopter: the flight controller (FC), the receiver (RX) and the power distribution board (PDB).

Gearbest
The Daming 007 ‘Spy’ (DM007) is an affordable toy-grade quadcopter featuring a gyroscope stabilization system on 3-axis (6-axis as manufacturers like to advertise), that comes in a complete Ready-To-Fly (RTF) package. Underneath the quadcopter canopy, a 2MP camera is mounted (it is removable) capable of shooting video and taking photos in HD resolution. The DM007 is available in two colours - black and white – where the black one has a more aggressive look; however, the white version is advised if you plan on doing night flying. The review model was the black version. This is the upgraded version.

Building a 280mm Quadcopter out of spare parts (Motors and ESCs)

While waiting for more spare parts to arrive (batteries, some adhesives, a PPM/PWM converter and some connector cables), it was the perfect time to install the motors and ESCs to the frame. If you have not read the first part of the build log, I used the EMAX Nighthawk 2204/2300kV motors and EMAX BLHeli 12A ESCs.

The Eachine H8c is an affordable toy-grade quadcopter featuring a gyroscope stabilization system on 3-axis (6-axis as manufacturers like to advertise), that comes in a complete Ready-To-Fly (RTF) package. Inside the quadcopter canopy, there is an HD camera (with microphone) that is capable of video and picture recording (the camera can take pictures while recording video). The H8c is available on two colours, white and black, with the black version having a “mean” look while the white one is more suited for night flying. The review model was the black version.
